Northgate is never boring. The district runs a packed calendar year-round — from massive game day blowouts to weekly themed nights, live music, and seasonal celebrations that draw Aggies from across the state. Here is your complete guide to events at Northgate.

Game Day — The Main Event

If you have never experienced Northgate on an Aggie football game day, it needs to go on your bucket list immediately.

On home game Saturdays the strip transforms. Tens of thousands of fans — students, alumni, families, and visitors from across Texas — fill the district hours before kickoff. The energy hits a level that is completely unlike any regular weekend.

Game Day Timing by Kickoff

Morning kick (9–11am): Bars open as early as 6–7am. The strip is genuinely active before sunrise. Get there by 8am if you want a seat anywhere.

Noon kick: Bars open by 8–9am. Full crowd by 10am.

Afternoon kick (2:30–3:30pm): Bars open around 10–11am. Build-up runs all morning.

Evening kick (6–8pm): Bars open around noon. The pre-game stretches all afternoon into one of the best atmospheres on the strip.

After the game: Win or lose, Northgate runs until 2am.

Arrive early. Seriously. By two hours before kickoff most venues are at capacity. Three to four hours early is the right call if you want to actually get in anywhere.

Weekly Events

Most venues run consistent weekly programming. Here is what to expect throughout the week:

Monday — Quietest night. Monday Night Football specials at several bars. Good for a low-key outing with guaranteed seating.

Tuesday — Trivia nights at multiple venues. Great for groups who want something interactive. Check individual bar social pages for current times.

Wednesday — Mid-week drink specials across the district. Karaoke nights at select bars. The strip starts picking back up.

Thursday — Genuinely a going-out night during the school year. Many venues start weekend programming on Thursday with DJs and specials. Expect a real crowd from 9pm onward.

Friday — Full energy. Live music, DJs, themed nights, the strip operating at capacity.

Saturday — Peak Northgate. Game day or not, Saturday night is when the full experience is available.

Sunday — Sunday Funday specials at some spots. Good for brunch earlier in the day.

Annual Events & Traditions

Aggie Football Season (September – December)

The whole district revolves around the football schedule during the season. Each home game brings a distinct event atmosphere to the strip. This is when Northgate is at its absolute best.

Homecoming Weekend

One of the biggest weekends of the year. Alumni flood back into town, bars run special events and reunion-style gatherings, and the energy hits a different level entirely. Book your spot early — Northgate is packed wall to wall.

Muster (April 21st)

One of the most sacred Aggie traditions. While the main ceremony is on campus, Northgate sees large alumni gatherings afterward as Aggies reconnect with old classmates. A meaningful night on the strip.

New Year's Eve

Multiple venues host countdown parties with live music, special programming, and open bar packages. One of the best NYE celebrations in the Brazos Valley.

Cinco de Mayo

Big night at the bars and restaurants. Margarita specials, themed nights, and extended live entertainment across the strip.

St. Patrick's Day

Green everywhere. Most bars go all-in — specials run all day and the party starts earlier than usual.

Live Music at Northgate

Live music is woven into the Northgate experience year-round.

Harry's Northgate (217 University Drive) is the premier live music venue on the strip — 11,000 square feet with a dedicated stage, professional sound, and a full dance hall experience. The biggest acts and events come through here.

Several other bars bring in acoustic acts, local bands, and regional performers throughout the week. DJ nights rotate across multiple venues on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
