The Big Picture

Northgate sits directly on the north side of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. It is a compact, walkable district you can cover end to end in 10–15 minutes on foot.

The district is bounded by:

College Avenue running north-south — the main spine
University Drive — the southern entry point
Nagle Street and Stasney Street — the main east-west cross streets
Texas A&M campus on the south side

Everything worth visiting on Northgate is within easy walking distance of College Avenue.

Key Streets

College Avenue

This is THE street. College Avenue runs directly north from the Texas A&M campus gate and carries the majority of Northgate's bars, restaurants, and clubs. If you remember one street, it is this one. When you are on College Avenue heading north from campus, you are in the heart of Northgate.

University Drive (FM 60)

The major east-west road forming the southern boundary of the district. University Drive connects to Texas Avenue and is how most people approach Northgate by car. The intersection of University Drive and College Avenue is the main southern entry point.

Northgate Street

Runs parallel to College Avenue. Additional venues and establishments sit along here. A short walk from the main strip and worth exploring once you have covered College Avenue.

Nagle Street

East-west connector running through the district. Several venues accessible from Nagle. Also contains parking options.

Stasney Street

Another east-west connector in the heart of the district. Cuts through the middle of the strip and connects College Avenue to Northgate Street.

Where Things Are Clustered

The Core Strip

The highest concentration of bars and clubs runs along College Avenue between University Drive and approximately 3–4 blocks north. This is where the flagship venues are — Dixie Chicken, The Backyard, The Corner Bar, Harry's, and most of the spots you came to see.

The Rooftop Row

Several multi-level venues cluster along the northern stretch of College Avenue and the cross streets. The Corner Bar rooftop, 12 Rooftop Bar, and Harry's Northgate dance hall are all in this area.

The South End

The southern end of the strip near University Drive has restaurants and more casual bar options. This is also where you enter from campus.

The Standard Northgate Crawl Route

Start at the south end of College Avenue near University Drive. Walk north, hitting venues as you go. At the north end, cut one block over to Northgate Street. Walk south back to your starting point. You have now covered the full core of the district. Everything else branches off this loop.
